PSA: This is the week when OpenAI launches the custom GPT store. I'm not sure what it's going to be like, or who will be able to access the marketplace, but I do have a handful of GPTs to release when it opens.

Today's design fiction was generated in one shot. After having a think of what I wanted, I entered a fairly basic prompt that generated the image below with zero editing (hence some of the weird text). If this is something you think you could make use of, drop a like 💖 and I'll reach out to you when it's ready for primetime.

Oh, the Stanley Valentine's Day Edition Love Grip Pipe Wrench. Let me tell you, the timeline where I found this gem was a wild ride into hyper-consumerism on steroids. Picture a world where brand hype has eclipsed practicality to the point where people camp outside hardware stores for the latest designer tool drop. That's right, camping. For tools.

In this timeline, Stanley isn't just a tool manufacturer; they're the Gucci of hand tools. Every release is a fashion statement. The Love Grip? It's the apex of this absurdity. Imagine getting a pipe wrench not because you've got a leaky pipe, but because it's a status symbol. “Oh, you’re still using last season’s wrench? That’s so passé.”

The streets were littered with billboards showcasing rugged, tattooed models posing with hammers and screwdrivers like they were runway accessories. Every café and bar had patrons casually discussing the build quality and aesthetics of their latest tool acquisitions, like discussing fine wines.

What's hilarious is how this mirrors our own primeline’s obsession with brand hype. We’ve got people trampling over each other for the latest smartphone, sneaker drop, or, let's face it, limited edition thermal mug. It's like the more unnecessary and absurd the item, the more we want it. "Oh, a fire extinguisher with a designer logo? Shut up and take my money!"

In this tool-obsessed timeline, DIY projects became the new Instagram influencer gold. Forget travel pics and food shots; it’s all about that chic tool wall in your garage. The Love Grip? It's the crown jewel. Not because it grips any better, mind you, but because owning one says, "I've made it in life."

Next time you see a line around the block for the latest hyped-up thingamajig, just remember the Love Grip and ask yourself, “Am I buying this because I need it, or because I've been told to want it?”
